Orland acts to awaken development project with plans for commercial district, park

On Nov. 6, The Village of Orland Park Board of Trustees took another major step to move the $80 million Triangle District project forward, approving a term sheet to start the paperwork for bond sales and Tax Increment District funding.

The board agreed to hire Edwards Realty to develop the area bordered by Southwest Highway, 143rd Street and LaGrange Road.

Speaking to the board at a Committee of the Whole meeting Oct. 16, Edwards President Ramzi Hassan said 140,000 square feet of business space is scheduled to be created.

There will also be a centerpiece, Hero’s Park, which will host events and feature an ice rink. A concert venue, restaurants, bars and a walking area will be included and expected to draw residents from all over the area.

Pekau and Hassan emphasize that there will be no new residential structures in the Triangle District.
